Annual General Meeting 2023 summary and new officers

The APPG held its Annual General Meeting on 18 April 2023, in Portcullis House in Parliament, where we had the opportunity to elect our 2023 Office Bearers, review our activity over the past year, and set out our plans for the rest of the year.

Lord McConnell provided an overview of events held over the past year, including the Summer Reception in June 2022, the ‘Local Action on SDGs’ event in Parliament in January 2023, and the successful breakfast meeting held with Minister Andrew Mitchell in December 2022, where members of the APPG had the opportunity to speak with the Minister directly about the UK government progress towards the SDGs.

Steve Kinzie from the UN Global Compact also gave a short presentation on the recent work of the UN Global Compact, which supports over 20,000 businesses to incorporate the SDGs into their business models.

We were delighted to welcome some new members, and new vice-chairs to the group, and to re-elect Lord Jack McConnell and Theo Clarke MP as co-chairs.  We now have over 120 Parliamentarians who are members of the APPG, as well as many representatives from business and civil society. A full list of members can be found here.

The APPG’s 2023/4 Office Bearers are:

Co-Chairs: Lord Jack McConnell and Theo Clarke MP

Vice-Chairs: Baroness Hodgson of Abinger, Baroness Northover, Lord Purvis, Pauline Latham MP, Virendra Sharma MP, Barry Sheerman MP and
Patrick Grady MP
