Event: Learning from the Covid-19 global vaccine rollout: how can we prevent future pandemics?

On 8th March the UK hosted the global Summit on Global Pandemic Preparedness, bringing together partners to raise over $1.5 billion for the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI) and work towards building a better, safer world.

Join us for this event with CEPI CEO, Dr Richard Hatchett, to reflect on the CEPI Summit and discuss what is needed now to end the Covid-19 pandemic everywhere and protect us from future pandemics. We will also hear from Dr Phanuel Tawanda Gwinji, a medical professional who has worked in Afghanistan, South Sudan and Zimbabwe, on his experience of responding to Covid-19 on the frontline.

Given the interconnected nature of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), tackling the risk of future pandemics and improving global health is important not just to achieve SDG3: Good Health and Wellbeing, but also many other SDGs. It is also important that we reduce the spread of Covid-19 globally to ensure that we keep British people safe from variants that could overwhelm the NHS.

Speakers:

  • Dr Richard Hatchett, CEO of the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI)

  • Dr Phanuel Tawanda Gwinji, Frontline medical professional

The event will be chaired by Theo Clarke MP, Chair of the APPG on UN Global Goals for Sustainable Development.
